Research

  • 2023.08 - Present
Development and Control of a Magnetic Series Elastic Actuator (Mag-SEA)
Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics Research Laboratory (AIMRL) - Georgia Tech
    • Supervisor: Dr. Kok-Meng Lee
    • Prototyped and optimized the Mag-SEA; designed a mechanical SEA for comparative analysis.
    • Simulated system stability and performance; developing an embedded control system for real-time impedance control using wireless data transfer.
  • 2021.08 - 2022.12
Design and Control of Pneumatic Variable-Stiffness Joints for Underactuated Gripper
Adaptive Robotic Manipulation (ARM) Laboratory - Georgia Tech
    • Supervisor: Dr. Frank Hammond
    • Prototyped and refined an underactuated gripper with pneumatic variable-stiffness joints, achieving a 20% increase in workspace and enhanced capabilities.
    • Developed mathematical models linking joint stiffness, tendon tension, and end-point position. Engineered embedded controller for pneumatic actuation, optimizing tendon tension and stiffness for adaptive control.

Projects

  • 2024.05 - present
Design and Evaluation of Control Systems for Inverted Pendulum
    • Applied a range of control methods—classical (PID, Bang-Bang), modern (Pole-Placement, Sliding Mode, Computed Torque), and optimal (LQR, MPC)—to the inverted pendulum system.
    • Designed and simulated nonlinear system dynamics using MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape to compare controller performance and assess robustness against disturbances and parameter uncertainties.
